Here Comes Peter Cottontail!

Easter has always been a special holiday amongst my family. I remember as a little girl, my grandmother would dye her sheep pink, yellow, blue, and green making it look like a field of live Easter eggs in her pasture. Yes, you read that right; dyed sheep! I also like to think back to those special shopping trips with my mom and sister as we would go pick out our new Easter dresses, and I always had to have the perfect bonnet of course!

About ten years ago my mom threw an Easter party that has since become a tradition for many close family friends. Now let me tell you, this Easter party isn’t your normal Easter party. It seems to start that way with a traditional pot luck honey ham lunch, but from their all tradition is off limits at the egg hunt. Confetti eggs are hidden and you are either running to find one or running away from being hit, and it seems to never fail that somehow someone ends up in the swimming pool. The joy and laughter is something many look forward to year after year.

This year will be my son’s first Easter and I can’t wait! At ten months of age, he really isn’t fazed by the giant Easter bunnies on our dining room table, but one day he will be able to reminisce on the excitement built around this holiday just as I do now. So until then, grass table runners with giant bunny rabbits will be the norm this time of year!
